Evil rises in second trailer for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- An ancient mutant has awakened threatening humanity in the second trailer for Fox's upcoming superhero epic, X-Men: Apocalypse.

Starring series newcomer Oscar Isaac as the all-powerful Apocalypse, the new footage released Thursday features the towering foe rising from his mummified tomb and assembling his evil group of four horsemen consisting of Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn).

The last of the X-Men remaining from 2014's Days of Future Past including leader Professor X (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) accompany a team of rookie heroes including Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) in order to take on the new, dangerous threat.

"Forget everything you think you know," Lawrence says to the newest members of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters."You're not students anymore; you're X-Men."

Directed by series helmer Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse arrives in theaters May 27.
