LOS ANGELES, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Selma Blair showed her support for Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar following news the actress will star in a TV remake of the 1999 movie.

The 43-year-old actress re-posted a throwback photo Gellar shared earlier in the day with Blair and fellow co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.

"1998. The original title was cruel inventions and this was the kick off dinner. Still [love] after all these years. Xoxoox @sarahmgellar," Blair captioned the snapshot. Gellar posted the photo after confirming she will reprise Kathryn Merteuil in the NBC remake.

"#throwbackthursday ok one last one because I was feeling nostalgic - and yes #CruelInventions was the original title. This pic was 1998 at our kickoff dinner #cruelintentions," the 38-year-old actress wrote.

Cruel Intentions earned $75.9 million at the box office and inspired both a prequel and a sequel. The film follows Kathryn's plan to take revenge on her ex-lover Court (Charlie O'Connell) by having her stepbrother (Phillippe) seduce Court's new girlfriend, Cecile (Blair).

"Cruel Intentions [was one of my two best film experiences]," Gellar told HuffPost Entertainment in 2014. "We just knew we were making something that was so different and were all so passionate and excited. And we were all friends!"

Gellar will star in the remake with Samantha Logan (The Fosters), Taylor John Smith (American Crime) and Sophina Brown (Numb3rs). Roger Kumble and Neal Moritz, who directed and produced the original movie, respectively, will return for the remake.
