LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Performer Colt Prattes has landed the iconic role of Johnny for the upcoming TV remake of 1987's Dirty Dancing.

Prattes -- a singer, dancer and actor recently seen in Rock of Ages -- will play the part made famous by the late Patrick Swayze opposite Abigail Breslin, who will play Baby. Actress Jennifer Grey was the first to play the role in the Emile Ardolino-directed original.

Debra Messing is also on the cast list as Marjorie Houseman, Baby's mother. Wayne Blair will direct the project with Hamilton's Andy Blankenbuehler as choreographer.

Prattes came to fame through his role in pop singer Pink's choreographed music video for "Try," released in 2012. After the video, he toured with the singer during her The Truth About Love tour.
