'Spotlight,' 'Big Short,' 'Fargo' win Writers Guild of America Awards

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The film Spotlight earned the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay Saturday night, while The Big Short scored the honor for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief won the prize for Best Documentary Screenplay.

The awards for excellence in television writing went to Mad Men for Drama, Veep for Comedy, Mr. Robot for New Series and General Hospital for Daytime Drama.

Saints & Strangers earned the accolade for Original Long Form and Fargo the award for Adapted Long Form.
