Three 'Transformers' sequels expected for 2017, 2018, 2019, Paramount says

HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- The next three Transformers sequels will open in theaters annually beginning in 2017, Paramount announced Friday.

The fifth film in the franchise will premiere June 23 of next year, with Transformers 6 following with a June 8, 2018 opening and Transformers 7 coming June 28, 2019.

As if its current schedule, the most immediately upcoming Tranformers flick will contend with Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot. The sixth movie will compete with another Warner Bros. film, Godzilla 2.

Michael Bay, director of the first four Transformers movies, will reportedly end his run with the franchise after the fifth installment, expected to see the reprisal of Mark Walhlberg's central character.
