Netflix's 'Pee-wee's Big Holiday' gets new trailer, release date

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Pee-wee Herman is returning to the small screen in Netflix's original comedy revival, Pee-wee's Big Holiday.

Netflix unveiled the release date and the first trailer for the project Tuesday which featured a returning Paul Reubens as the iconic man-child waking up and getting ready for the day by launching himself through his roof and onto a pair of skis.

Being produced by Reubens and Judd Apatow, the film also stars Joe Manganiello, Jessica Pohly, Alia Shawkat and is directed by Wonder Showzen creator John Lee.

"A fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny," reads the film's official description.

Pee-wee's Big Holiday will first premiere in Austin, Tex. during the SXSW film festival before becoming available on the streaming service on Mar. 18.
