LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Billie Lourd channeled mom Carrie Fisher for her first Star Wars: The Force Awakens photo.
The 23-year-old actress sported her 59-year-old mother's famous Princess Leia-style buns for a promo portrait in character. Lourd will appear in the forthcoming movie in a yet-unspecified role.
"I made [my mom] watch it at least once a week -- and on special occasions I would make her get in a light-saber fight with me," she told People magazine. "Let's just say the more trained Jedi usually won."
Fisher is also slated for the film, reprising Princess Leia over 38 years after her debut as the character. She first starred in Star Wars (1977), and returned for The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).
"When I saw the [original] movie for the first time, I noticed my mom was not only equally as confident and strong as the men, she was one of the most confident characters in the entire film," Lourd said. "It made me realize women are just as powerful as men and that we can truly do anything they can -- if not more!"
Lourd previously told Interview magazine she will not play Princess Leia's daughter in the film. The burgeoning actress is daughter to Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd and granddaughter to actress Debbie Reynolds.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-stars Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver. It opens Dec. 25. Lourd recently played Sadie Swenson, aka Chanel #3, on Fox series Scream Queens, which aired its season premiere this week.
