'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2' releases first trailer

The original movie opened in U.S. theaters in December 2000.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny released a first trailer on Monday.

The preview shows Michelle Yeoh returning as Yu Shu Lien to protect the Green Destiny from Jason Scott Lee's character. Donnie Yen, Harry Shum, Jr., and JuJu Chan also star in new roles.

Sword of Destiny is a sequel to the 2000 film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and will premiere Feb. 26 on Netflix. The movie is directed by Yuen Woo-ping, a noted martial arts choreographer who worked on the original film, The Matrix and also Kill Bill.

Ang Lee directed the 2000 movie, which remains the highest-grossing foreign-language film in American history. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon earned over $213 million on a $17 million budget, and won Best Foreign Language Film at the 2001 Academy Awards.

Yeoh is also known for Tomorrow Never Dies and Memoirs of a Geisha, and recently played Mei Foster/Li-Na on Sky1 series Strike Back. She will appear on season 2 of the Netflix drama Marco Polo, and is slated for Mechanic: Resurrection with Jason Statham.
