Shailene Woodley stars in full-length 'Allegiant' trailer

"Allegiant" will be adapted for film in two parts -- "Allegiant" and "Ascendant."

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The Divergent Series: Allegiant released a first full-length trailer starring Shailene Woodley on Thursday.

The preview sees Beatrice "Tris" Prior (Woodley) team up with Tobias "Four" Eaton (Theo James) to defy his mother, Evelyn Johnson-Eaton (Naomi Watts), and travel beyond the Wall surrounding the ruins of post-apocalyptic Chicago.

Miles Teller co-stars as Peter Hayes, with Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior, Octavia Spencer as Johanna Reyes, Ray Stevenson as Marcus Eaton and Zoe Kravitz as Christina. Newcomer Jeff Daniels also appears as the villain David.

Allegiant is directed by Robert Schwentke, who helmed The Divergent Series: Insurgent, and opens in theaters Mar. 18, 2016. The movie is based on the final book of the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth, and will be followed by Ascendant.

Divergent and Insurgent opened in March 2014 and March 2015, respectively, and earned a combined $586 million at the box office. Woodley is known for The Spectacular Now and The Fault in Our Stars, and is also slated for Snowden with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
