NEW YORK, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Swedish actress Noomi Rapace is in talks to star as late British singer Amy Winehouse in an upcoming biopic.
Kirsten Sheridan (August Rush) has written the script and will direct, Screen Daily reports. News of the film comes soon after the premiere of Amy, the successful documentary from Asif Kapadia.
Rapace, 35, is best known for her roles as Lisbeth Salander in the successful Swedish adaption of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, its sequels and 2012's Prometheus. Her upcoming projects include a Prometheus sequel and an additional biopic focused on Maria Callas.
Variety reports Dublin-based producers Subotica Films will support the Winehouse flick, as well as the U.S.-based City Entertainment.
