'Alice Through the Looking Glass' releases first trailer

"Borat" actor Sacha Baron Cohen portrays the movie's villain, Time.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Alice Through the Looking Glass released a first full-length trailer starring Mia Wasikowska Thursday.

The 26-year-old Australian actress portrays the title character in the Alice in Wonderland sequel. The preview sees Alice return to Wonderland to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) from Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) and the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).

Alice Through the Looking Glass is based on the Lewis Carroll novel Through the Looking-Glass, the sequel to Alice in Wonderland. James Bobin will replace Tim Burton as director on the new movie, while Burton will serve as producer.

Anne Hathaway, Matt Lucas and Rhys Ifans co-star as the White Queen, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and the Mad Hatter's father, respectively. Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman and Michael Sheen voice the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar and the White Rabbit.

Alice in Wonderland opened in theaters in March 2010, and earned over $1.02 billion at the box office. The sequel is slated for release May 27, 2016.
