LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Actors Vin Diesel and Elijah Wood have opened up about their latest film, The Last Witch Hunter as it opens nationwide Friday.

Speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Fast and Furious star mentioned how excited he is for the movie to finally come out and for audiences to experience the fantasy epic.

"You work for years on a film," said Diesel. "So now it's finally coming out. I am excited to talk about it, because I'm dying to know how audiences will react."

The fantasy action film directed by Breck Eisner stars Diesel as Kaulder, an immortal warrior condemned to live forever after being cursed by a witch he killed 800 years ago. The movie will touch upon Kaulder's predicament and how he must live with this curse.

"People may think immortality is this wonderful thing to have, and we even allow you to think that in the beginning of the movie. Then you see the result of Kaulder living forever, and you slowly understand the burden, the loneliness. If you live forever, think of how many loved ones you have to lose."

Diesel's Kaulder will eventually team up with Rose Leslie's Chloe and Elijah Wood's Dolan to take on a coven of evil witches bent on destroying the world. Michael Caine also co-stars as Wood's predecessor in a religious order tasked with helping Kaulder on his journey.

Wood opened up to Parade about working with the two actors and how the cast and script motivated him to take on the role.

"When you read material and find out the colorful cast that is a part of it, that is often the motivator, he said of wanting to star in the film."I had never worked with Michael Caine or Vin. I am a great fan of Michael Caine's work. It was an honor to get a chance to work with him."

"I was surprised by the script," the Lord of the Rings star continued. "I found it wildly entertaining, the mythology was really interesting. It presents a world in which witches live amongst us, and white magic is allowed to exist and black magic is meant to be stamped out. I had a great deal of fun with the alternate reality. Then I saw some of the artwork and production designs for the film and I was really excited about where they were going with it from a production standpoint. The world that they were crafting seemed really interesting."
