'War Room' unseats 'Straight Outta Compton' as North America's top movie

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- War Room is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $9.4 million in ticket sales between Friday and Sunday, Rentrak announced.

The Christian drama starring Priscilla Shirer, T.C. Stallings, Karen Abercrombie and Alex Kendrick unseated the previous chart-topper Straight Outta Compton, which had a three-week streak at No. 1.

Compton came in at No. 2 this weekend with $8.8 million, followed by A Walk in the Woods at No. 3 with $8.3 million, Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation at No. 4 with $7.2 million and The Transporter Refueled at No. 5 with $7.1 million.

Rounding out the top tier are No Escape at No. 6 with $5.4 million, Man From U.N.C.L.E. at No. 7 with $3.45 million, Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos at No. 8 with $3.4 million, Sinister 2 at No. 9 with $3.38 million and Inside Out at No. 10 with $3.15 million.
