LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Laura Linney has joined the cast of Clint Eastwood's upcoming Captain Sully biopic.

The 51-year-old actress will portray Lorraine "Lorrie" Sullenberger, wife of 26 years to real-life retired pilot Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. Tom Hanks will star as the captain, with Aaron Eckhart as his co-pilot Jeff Skiles.

Sullenberger became a national hero after safely landing US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in January 2009. The aircraft hit a flock of Canada geese during its ascent, and all 155 passengers and crew survived the incident.

The movie is based on Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow's book Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters. Perfect Stranger writer Todd Komarnicki will pen the script, with noted producer Frank Marshall and Allyn Stewart as co-producers.

Linney and Eastwood previously collaborated on Absolute Power and Mystic River. The actress last appeared in Mr. Holmes and is also scheduled for Max Perkins biopic Genius, while Hanks is slated for the Steven Spielberg Cold War film Bridge of Spies.
