'Straight Outta Compton' is the No. 1 movie in North America

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Straight Outta Compton is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $56 million during its premiere weekend, Rentrak announced Sunday.

The movie is about how the rap group N.W.A. emerged from the streets of Compton, Calif., in the mid-1980s and revolutionized hip-hop culture.

Coming in at No. 2 is Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation with $17 million, followed by Man From U.N.C.L.E. at No. 3 with $13.5 million, Fantastic Four at No. 4 with $8 million and The Gift at No. 5 with $6.5 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Ant-Man at No. 6 with $5.5 million, Vacation at No. 7 with $5.3 million, Minions at No. 8 with $5.2 million, Ricki and the Flash at No. 9 with $4.6 million and Trainwreck at No. 10 with $3.8 million.
