NEW YORK, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Mamie Gummer and mom Meryl Streep attended the Ricki and the Flash premiere Monday.
The 32-year-old actress and her 66-year-old mother walked the red carpet with co-star Rick Springfield at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater. Gummer and Streep play daughter and mother in the new movie.
"I was nervous about it, leading up to filming it," Gummer told Entertainment Tonight of the film's tense scenes. "[Streep] was fine. I think she was pleased, actually. It was funny because I tear into her and when we called cut there was this big grin on her face."
"It was great to work with my daughter!" Streep added to Us Weekly magazine. "I was blown away. I'm not objective! Don't ask me this! But I think other people have corroborated that [she's] talented, so it's [been] really fun."
Ricki and the Flash stars Gummer as the estranged daughter of famous rock star Ricki (Streep), with Springfield as Ricki's boyfriend and bandmate. Juno writer Diablo Cody penned the script, with Rachel Getting Married helmer Jonathan Demme as director.
Gummer and Streep previously appeared together in the 1986 comedy Heartburn and 2007 drama Evening. Gummer is also slated for season 2 of WGN series Manhattan, while Streep is scheduled for Suffragette with Carey Mulligan.
