The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum helmer Paul Greengrass will co-write the film with Christopher Rouse and direct. The sequel's premiere was pushed back from July 15, 2016 to July 26, 2016 in January.

The Bourne movies are based on Robert Ludlum novels, and have earned more than $1.2 billion at the box office. The franchise includes The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and The Bourne Legacy (2012) with Jeremy Renner.

Vikander is known for playing Jossan on Swedish drama Andra Avenyn, and appearing in A Royal Affair, Anna Karenina and Ex Machina. The actress will reportedly pass on Assassin's Creed and The Circle in order to take on the Bourne role.
