Jack Huston quits 'The Crow' remake due to scheduling conflicts

LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Scheduling conflicts have caused Jack Huston to drop out of the planned remake of the 1994 movie The Crow, which is in pre-production in Wales.

"Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on The Crow," director Corin Hardy said in a statement Monday. "The Crow is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks."

Best known for his work in the TV series Boardwalk Empire, as well as in the films American Hustle and The Longest Ride, Huston was to play murder victim-turned-resurrected vigilante Eric Draven in the re-boot of The Crow franchise.

The role was originated by Brandon Lee, who was killed in an onset mishap during the making of the first film.

Variety reported Relativity Studios is considering Nicholas Hoult and Jack O'Connell as a replacement for Huston.

Huston is also set to star in a remake of Ben-Hur, as well as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
