Kate Beckinsale signs on for 'Underworld 5'

LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- British actress Kate Beckinsale has signed on to star in the fifth installment in the Underworld film franchise, which is to begin shooting in Prague this October.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to reveal Beckinsale would be returning to her character of the vampire Selene. She originated the role in the first Underworld movie, which was released in 2003, and has played the part in the second and fourth episodes in the series. The third film released was a prequel to the franchise and did not feature Beckinsale.

Anna Foerster is to helm the 2016 sequel, which was written by Cory Goodman.
