LOS ANGELES, April 25 (UPI) -- Directer David Ayer celebrated the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Joker by sharing a photo of Jared Leto as the iconic comic-book villain in his upcoming movie Suicide Squad.

The disturbing image shows the Oscar-winning actor with green hair, metallic teeth and the word "Damaged" inked across his forehead. His bare torso and arms are covered in tattoos of a huge, grinning mouth, a skull with a jester's cap, playing cards and the repeated word "Ha." He is also wearing a single, purple glove.

"The Suicide Squad wishes you a Happy Anniversary Mr. J! #Joker75 #SuicideSquad @WarnerBrosEnt @DCComics," Ayer tweeted Friday night, along with the photo.

Co-starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, Suicide Squad is set for release Aug. 5, 2016.
