LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Ryan Gosling may star in The Haunted Mansion.

The 34-year-old actor is reportedly in talks for a Guillermo del Toro-directed reboot of the 2003 Disney film. The studio first announced the project at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2010.

The original movie is based on the theme park attraction of the same name, and stars Eddie Murphy as a real estate agent who vacations in ghost-inhabited Gracie Manor. Gosling and del Toro are said to have rode the Haunted Mansion ride together at Disneyland in February.

Gosling was a Mouseketeer on The Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1995, and both he and del Toro are big Disney fans. The 50-year-old director reportedly has a room dedicated to The Haunted Mansion in his home, complete with secret bookcases and original art by Marc Davis.

Gosling last appeared in Only God Forgives in 2013, and is scheduled for Weightless with Christian Bale and The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe. Del Toro has several other films in the works, including Crimson Peak with Mia Wasikowska and sequel Pacific Rim 2.
