Jennifer Lawrence done playing Mystique on 'X-Men' films

LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lawrence will make her last appearance as shapeshifter Mystique in the forthcoming installment of the X-Men franchise Apocalypse.

While speaking to MTV at a special screening of her period drama Serena on Saturday, the 24-year-old actress said her role in Apocalypse marks the "last time" she'll play the blue mutant.

Lawrence first played a young Raven Darkhölme/Mystique in the 2011 film X-Men: First Class and reprised the role in the 2014 sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. Actress Rebecca Romijn played an older version of the character in the first three X-Men films.

X-Men:Apocalypse is slated for release on May 27, 2016.
