LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon star in a first trailer for Hot Pursuit.
The 42-year-old actress portrays a witness under the protection of an earnest police officer (Witherspoon). The preview sees the pair go on the run after a drug dealer frames and threatens to kill them before Vergara's character can testify.
Hot Pursuit is directed by noted choreographer Anne Fletcher, who also helmed Step Up, 27 Dresses and The Proposal. The comedy opens in theaters May 8, and co-stars Robert Kazinsky, Sean Penn and David Oyelowo.
Vergara last appeared in Jon Favreau film Chef, and currently plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC sitcom Modern Family. Witherspoon recently starred in an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed memoir Wild, and is also scheduled for Paul Feig movie Wish List.
