Jack Black to perform on the Oscars telecast

Black's film credits include "High Fidelity," "Shallow Hal," "School of Rock," "King Kong," "Tropic Thunder" and the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise.

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Actor and musician Jack Black is to perform at this month's Oscars ceremony, but show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron aren't saying exactly what he will be doing.

"Jack Black is a complete original comic voice and we're beyond thrilled that he has agreed to join the Oscars show in a very special sequence," Zadan and Meron said in a statement Thursday.

The telecast honoring excellence in film will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris Feb. 22, live on ABC.

Black's film credits include High Fidelity, Shallow Hal, School of Rock, King Kong, Tropic Thunder and the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
