Magic Mike XXL is a followup to Magic Mike (2012), which saw Mike quit his job at Xquisite club to presumably open a custom furniture business. Gregory Jacobs will helm the sequel, with original director Steven Soderbergh as editor and cinematographer.

Tatum last appeared with Jonah Hill in 22 Jump Street, and will next star with Mila Kunis in Jupiter Ascending. The actor is also scheduled for Quentin Tarantino western The Hateful Eight and Coen brothers film Hail, Caesar!, and will portray Remy LeBeau in X-Men: Apocalypse and Gambit.
