Michael Fassbender begins work on 'Steve Jobs' biopic

The big-screen adaptation of Walter Isaacson's best-selling book is being directed by Danny Boyle.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Principal photography has begun in San Francisco on the biopic Steve Jobs with Michael Fassbender playing the titular technology visionary, Universal Pictures announced.

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is helming the picture, which co-stars Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. It co-stars Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels, Katherine Waterston and Michael Stuhlbarg.

The big-screen adaptation of Walter Isaacson's best-selling book was penned by The West Wing and The Newsroom scribe Aaron Sorkin.

"Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, the film takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter," a synopsis said.

Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011. He was 56.
