LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Miles Teller stars in a first trailer for Fantastic Four.
The 27-year-old actor portrays Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, with Kate Mara as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Toby Kebbell will also appear as villain Victor Domashev/Doom.
In the Marvel comics, the Fantastic Four are a team of astronauts who develop superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays on a mission to outer space. Reed gains elasticity, Sue Storm can become invisible, Johnny Storm can generate flames and The Thing gains superhuman strength.
X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater penned the script, with Chronicle helmer Josh Trank as director. The film will see the team develop and harness their powers, and opens in theaters Aug. 7.
20th Century Fox previously released Fantastic Four in 2005, with Ioan Gruffudd as Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm and Michael Chiklis as Grimm. A less successful sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, premiered in 2007.
Teller is known for portraying Peter in Divergent and Andrew Neiman in Whiplash. Mara played Zoe Barnes on Netflix series House of Cards, while Jordan appeared as Alex on NBC drama Parenthood and Bell currently stars as Abe Woodhull on AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies.
