Zac Efron to star in comedy 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates'

The actor previously worked with co-writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien on "Neighbors."

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Zac Efron has been cast in new comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

The 27-year-old actor will star as one of two brothers who post an online ad to find wedding dates. Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien penned the script, with Jake Szymanski as director and Peter Chernin, David Ready and Jenno Topping as producers.

Szymanski regularly contributed to Funny or Die productions and Saturday Night Live. He also helmed episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bad Judge, and will direct Amanda Seyfriend and Rebel Wilson in The Social Life.

Efron previously collaborated with Cohen and O'Brien on Neighbors, with Cohen as executive producer and O'Brien as writer. The actor will star with Emily Ratajkowski in We Are Your Friends, and is also scheduled for Dirty Grandpa with Aubrey Plaza and Robert De Niro.
