NEW YORK, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- British film and television star Tracey Ullman waxed nostalgic about her brief 1980s pop music career while talking to reporters in New York about her new movie musical Into the Woods, which co-stars Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick.

Asked at the recent press conference if her previous singing experience helped her prepare for her role of Jack's mother, Ullman laughed: "I know! I was a one-hit wonder here in 1984."

The 54-year-old entertainer then started singing, "They Don't Know About Us," with Streep and Christine Baranski offering backup vocals.

"A couple of us were talking this morning and Anna was like: 'You, really? You had a [record]?'" Ullman recalled. "Yeah, Google me, honey."

"She was born YESTERDAY," joked Streep, 65, about Kendrick, 29.

"I was on 'Top of the Pops' with Boy George and Duran Duran and U2... back in my day," Ullman continued. "I can carry a tune and I've loved singing all the way through my career and in my shows and things. I did a Broadway gig. ... Yeah, it's time for a comeback. A re-release."
