'Birdman,' 'Boyhood,' 'Budapest,' 'Selma' earn Golden Globe nominations for film

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Birdman earned a leading seven Golden Globe Award film nominations Thursday, including a mention for Best Comedy or Musical and acting nods for cast members Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone.

Also nominated for Best Comedy or Musical are The Grand Budapest Hotel, Into the Woods, Pride and St. Vincent.

Shortlisted for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical are Amy Adams for Big Eyes, Emily Blunt for Into the Woods, Helen Mirren for The Hundred-Foot Journey, Julianne Moore for Maps to the Stars and Quvenzhane Wallis for Annie.

Up for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical are Michael Keaton for Birdman, Ralph Fiennes for The Grand Budapest Hotel, Bill Murray for St. Vincent, Joaquin Phoenix for Inherent Vice and Christoph Waltz for Big Eyes.

The nominees for Best Drama are Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Selma and The Theory of Everything.

In the running for Best Actress in a Drama are Jennifer Aniston for Cake, Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything, Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl and Reese Witherspoon for Wild.

Shortlisted for Best Actor in a Drama are Steve Carell for Foxcatcher, Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game, Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler, David Oyelowo for Selma and Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything.

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress are Patricia Arquette for Boyhood, Jessica Chastain for A Most Violent Year, Keira Knightley for The Imitation Game, Emma Stone for Birdman and Meryl Streep for Into the Woods.

Vying for the Best Supporting Actor accolade are Robert Duvall for The Judge, Ethan Hawke for Boyhood, Edward Norton for Birdman, Mark Ruffalo for Foxcatcher and J.K. Simmons for Whiplash.

The nominees for Best Director are Wes Anderson for The Grand Budapest Hotel, Ava Duvernay for Selma, David Fincher for Gone Girl, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for Birdman and Richard Linklater for Boyhood.

Touted for the Best Screenplay trophy are Wes Anderson for The Grand Budapest Hotel, Gillian Flynn for Gone Girl, Richard Linklater for Boyhood, Graham Moore for The Imitation Game, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo for Birdman.
