Daddy's Home follows "a mild-mannered radio executive" (Ferrell) who becomes a stepfather to his wife's (Cardellini) two children. The character is forced to contend with the children's "freewheeling and freeloading" father (Wahlberg) after he comes back into the picture.

Cardellini is known for portraying Lindsay Weir on NBC comedy Freaks and Geeks, Samantha Taggart on NBC medical drama ER and Sylvia Rosen on AMC series Mad Men. The actress is attached to star as Meg Rayburn on new Netflix series Bloodline.

Ferrell last starred in Anchorman 2, and is also scheduled for Get Hard and Zoolander 2. Wahlberg is attached to Ted 2 and Deepwater Horizon, and will star as Steve Austin in The Six Billion Dollar Man, a film adaptation of 1970s series The Six Million Dollar Man.
