The Six Million Dollar Man was based on the 1972 novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin, and premiered on ABC in 1973. The series starred Lee Majors as Steve Austin, a former astronaut outfitted with bionic implants after he is injured in a crash. The enhancements give the character increased strength, speed and vision, and he is recruited as a secret agent by the Office of Scientific Intelligence.

The Six Billion Dollar Man is slated for release in 2016. Wahlberg last appeared in Transformers: Age of Extinction, and is scheduled for a number of upcoming projects, including Mojave by The Departed writer William Monahan, and The Gambler with Jessica Lange, Brie Larson and John Goodman.
