LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Laura Dern will produce a new comedy for Universal Pictures.
The 47-year-old actress has teamed with director Judd Apatow on the project. The film will feature a female-led ensemble cast, and focus on obsessive female football fans. Longtime South Park writer Pam Brady will pen the screenplay.
Apatow is known for such films as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Funny People. He also directed, wrote and produced NBC series Freaks and Geeks, and currently produces and writes for HBO dramedy Girls.
Dern has appeared in such films as Jurassic Park, Inland Empire and The Master, and starred as Amy Jellicoe on HBO series Enlightened. The actress was last seen in The Fault in Our Stars, and is scheduled to star alongside Susan Sarandon and Sharon Stone in Mother's Day.
