Liam Hemsworth cowboys up on set of 'By Way of Helena'

The actor portrays a Texas Ranger tasked with solving a series of murders.

GREENWOOD, Miss., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Liam Hemsworth was recently spotted on the set of By Way of Helena.

The 24-year-old Australian actor ponied up to portray a Texas Ranger named David in the new revenge western. Hemsworth sported a beard, collared shirt and suspenders, and looked at ease astride a dark bay horse. Co-star Woody Harrelson kept pace nearby atop a skewbald mount, and wore a linen suit with matching long jacket.

By Way of Helena is directed by Australian filmmaker Kieran Darcy-Smith (Animal Kingdom). The movie is set in an isolated frontier town in the late 1800s, and follows David as he struggles to solve a series of mysterious murders. The character must also contend with Abraham (Harrelson), a tyrannical local preacher.

Production on the film will begin this fall. Both Hemsworth and Harrelson will appear in The Hunger Games; Mockingjay - Part One on November 21.
