Toni Collette shaves head for cancer patient role

The actress debuted her new look in London on Thursday.

LONDON, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Toni Collette has shaved off her long, blonde locks.

The 41-year-old actress debuted her dramatic new look at a photo call for Miss You Already on Thursday. She and co-star Drew Barrymore were in London to promote the film, which sees Collette shave her head to portray cancer patient Milly.

Miss You Already follows longtime friends Milly and Jess (Barrymore) as they experience very different landmarks in their lives. Milly is an established wife and mother of two when she discovers she has breast cancer, while bohemian Jess struggles to start a family with boyfriend Jago.

Miss You Already is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and co-stars Dominic Cooper, Jacqueline Bisset and Noah Huntley. The film is scheduled for release in 2015.

Collette has appeared in such films as Muriel's Wedding, The Sixth Sense and Little Miss Sunshine. The actress currently stars as Margaret Wallace on Australian series Devil's Playground.
