LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Matt Damon and Bryan Cranston are in talks to co-star in The Great Wall.
The film is in the works at Legendary Pictures, with Chinese great Zhang Yimou as director. The story centers on the Great Wall of China, and Damon would star in the lead role. The 43-year-old actor is reportedly working out scheduling issues in order to sign on to the feature.
Damon nearly starred in Zhang's 2011 film The Flowers of War, but the lead ultimately went to Christian Bale. Zhang made his directorial debut with Red Sorghum in 1987, and is known for such films as Raise the Red Lantern (1991), Hero (2002) and House of Flying Daggers (2004).
Damon is scheduled for Ridley Scott film The Martian in 2016, and will return for a new Jason Bourne movie. Cranston last starred in Gareth Edwards' remake of Godzilla, and will appear in Trumbo and Holland, Michigan in 2015.
