BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Shooting has begun in Georgia on the Vacation re-boot, starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate, New Line Cinema announced.

The big-screen comedy marks Jonathan Goldstein's and John Francis Daley's directorial debuts.

"Following in his father's footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold surprises his wife, Debbie, and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America's 'favorite family fun park,' Walley World," a synopsis said.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are to reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold -- Rusty's parents -- from the original 1983 Vacation movie and its subsequent sequels in the 1980s and '90s.

Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron originated the characters of Rusty and his sister Audrey, but their parts were played by different actors in the followup movies as the siblings never seemed to age.

Walley World was the destination for the Griswold's ill-fated family vacation in the first flick.

Rounding out the cast for the latest adventure are Chris Hemsworth as Stone Crandall, Rusty's irritatingly successful brother-in-law; Charlie Day, who plays a river-rafting guide; and Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins, who play Rusty's sons, James and Kevin.
