HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- After sitting out one movie in the "Jason Bourne" franchise, it has been announced Matt Damon will reprise his role for a fifth movie in the series.
According to Variety, Universal Pictures is in the early stages of bringing Damon and director Paul Greengrass back to the franchise.
The actor had previously said he would reprise the role he made famous as long as Greengrass is involved.
The pair had teamed up on the last two movies where Damon played Bourne, "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum".
Universal is already developing a fifth film in the Bourne world set to star Jeremy Renner, who will return to play Aaron Cross.
That movie is set to be released in July, 2016.
No word yet if Renner's movie will still open on that date or if the new film with Damon will replace it.
