Grumpy Cat Christmas movie image released

Lifetime releases its first movie still from the upcoming flick "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever."

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Grumpy Cat is finally get some serious screen time in the form of a Lifetime Christmas movie and the network recently released its first image from the flick.

The cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, is starring in the movie, Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever about a lonely cat living in a mall pet shop.

One day, 12-year-old Chyrstal discovers she can communicate with Grumpy Cat and falls in love with the disgruntled feline.

"In the middle of the holiday rush, Grumpy reluctantly thwarts the kidnapping of an expensive exotic dog she can't stand and rescues Chyrstal after the mall closes on Christmas Eve. Will Grumpy Cat learn the true meaning of Christmas, or will it be in Grumpy's words, 'Worst. Christmas. Ever?' " the official synopsis of the movie says.

Grumpy Cat's surly facial expression made her a popular Internet meme back in 2012. She's got her own social media accounts and makes occasional television appearances.
