LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Morgan Freeman has joined the cast of Ted 2.
Details about the 77-year-old actor's role are being kept under wraps, but a source told Variety the star will portray a civil rights lawyer who helps resolve Ted's legal issues.
Ted was written, produced and directed by Seth MacFarlane, and debuted in 2012. The Family Guy creator also voiced the title character, and will return for the sequel. The film grossed over $549 million, and followed the crass teddy bear's misadventures with human best friend John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg). Wahlberg will reprise the role in Ted 2, with Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth and Patrick Warburton as co-stars.
Ted 2 is currently filming in Boston, and will open in theaters June 26, 2015.
