St. Vincent co-stars funny woman Melissa McCarthy and is about a curmudgeon (Murray) who looks after and mentors his new 12-year-old neighbor, McCarthy's character's son.

The film opens nationwide Oct. 17.

"I sort of stayed in my room for a long time," Murray said of his special day. "People kept coming up and saying things like, 'It's real humid out there. And it's going to get more humid.' That's what my day's been like. It's mostly been a weather report."

"It's always been all about me. From the beginning," he added.

Also screened Friday at the TIFF were The Drop, The Judge and Welcome to Me.
