NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Josh Brolin wants to be involved with The Goonies 2.

The 46-year-old actor portrayed Brandon "Brand" Walsh in the original 1985 movie, and expressed his enthusiasm for a sequel Thursday on The Tonight Show.

"Of course I would do it," Brolin told host Jimmy Fallon. "But every five years, I keep hearing that we're gonna do it. And when, finally, you hear something like [original director] Richard Donner, it's on TMZ, so you can't believe it!"

Donner told TMZ in April creator and executive producer Steven Spielberg would be involved with the project. The director also mentioned he and Spielberg would want the original cast to return for the second movie.

"Steven came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years," he said. "You don't do it without him. We've been trying for a long time, then he came up with another storyline and he's right on."

The Goonies follows a group of four friends who leave their homes in the "Goon Docks" of Astoria, Ore., to seek the treasure of pirate One-Eyed Willie. Brolin starred as Goonies member Michael "Mikey" Walsh's (Sean Astin) older brother, with Corey Feldman as Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, Jonathan Ke Quan as Richard "Data" Wan and Jeff Cohen as Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen.
