LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang in the first official photo from Ant-Man.

The still features a pensive-looking Lang in a black hoodie and navy jacket against the grey and foggy backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Lang is a reformed thief and electronics expert who becomes the superhero Ant-Man after Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym (Michael Douglas). Pym is an etymologist and physicist who develops the size-shifting substance and becomes the original Ant-Man in the Marvel comics.

Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed, and co-stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket. Michael Pena and David Dastmalchian also have roles, and T.I., Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and John Slattery joined the cast this week.

Ant-Man is scheduled for release July 17, 2015.
