Elijah Wood, Vin Diesel to star in 'The Last Witch Hunter'

The movie focuses on a witch hunter (Diesel) who must partner with a witch to save humanity.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Elijah Wood has joined the cast of The Last Witch Hunter.

The 33-year-old Lord of the Rings actor will star alongside Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) and Michael Caine (The Dark Knight). The film follows an immortal witch hunter (Diesel) who is forced to partner with a witch (Leslie) when New York City's covens threaten to unleash a plague on humanity.

Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) penned the script, Brock Eisner (The Crazies) will direct and Diesel, Mark Canton and Bernie Goldmann will produce. Production will begin later this month.

Wood last appeared in Set Fire to the Stars, and has reprised his role as Ryan for the final season of Wilfred. The FXX series airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
