The feature is set in the 1950s, and follows Eddie Mannix (Clooney), a film executive during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Johansson would portray an actress who unexpectedly becomes pregnant, with Brolin as publicity head Howard Strickling, Fiennes as studio director Laurence Lorenz and Swinton as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper. Channing is said to play a Gene Kelly-type star, and Hill's role is unknown.

Johansson is currently pregnant in real life with fiancé Romain Dauriac. The actress will next appear in Lucy on July 25, while Hill is scheduled for True Story later this year.
