LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- Leighton Meester and Adam Brody will soon reunite on the big screen.

The 28-year-old actress and 34-year-old actor both star in new movie Life Partners. The pair previously appeared in The Oranges in 2011, a collaboration that preceded the beginning of their relationship. The two started dating in 2012, and married in February 2014.

Gillian Jacobs stars alongside the husband-and-wife duo in the upcoming film. The actress portrays uptight character Paige, with Meester as her lesbian best friend Sasha. Paige vows she won't get married until Sasha has the same legal right, but her plan is interrupted when she meets a charming young doctor named Tim (Brody).

"[The movie] came along just by chance," Meester said in April. "I was like, 'I'm gonna be playing the person you're not dating. That okay? I'm gonna be playing the opposite of that.' And yeah, I'm biased, but [Brody's] incredible in it."

The film will open the 2014 Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival on July 20. The annual event began in 1982, and seeks to promote LGBT equality "by creating, sharing and protecting LGBT stories on the screen."
