Cassadee Pope wins 'Breakthrough Honor' at CMTs, Blake Shelton says he's still mentoring her

NASHVILLE, June 6 (UPI) -- The Voice winner Cassadee Pope received the Breakthrough Video Honor at the 2014 CMT Music Awards Wednesday night from none other than her former coach Blake Shelton.

The 24-year-old country music newcomer claimed her prize for for "Wasting All These Tears," the first single from her debut album, Frame by Frame.

"Thank you so much," Pope told the crowd. "I knew my fans were awesome, but wow! I didn't know you guys could do this for me. Thank you. And thanks to everybody that's sitting over here. You all inspire me to just do my best and get better every single day. You are all incredible."

After being crowned the first female winner of The Voice in 2012, Pope's first studio album was unveiled in 2013. The record debuted No. 1 on Billboard's country music chart.

Other winners of Wednesday's CMT Awards include Shelton, Carry Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry and others.
