LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- Twilight star Robert Pattinson is reportedly being considered by Disney to play the title role in the upcoming remake of the adventure thriller Indiana Jones.

According to British tabloid The Daily Star, the 28-year-old British actor "is at the top of the initial list" for the role, "but the competition will be stiff."

"[Disney] feels that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies," an insider reportedly told the publication.

Sources say Pattinson will replace 71-year-old Harrison Ford as the whip-cracking hero because the latter "is getting to old" to play the character.

Disney has yet to confirm the reports or to disclose any details about the upcoming film.
