Skylar Astin and Ben Platt reunite on set of 'Pitch Perfect 2'

LOS ANGELES, May 22 (UPI) -- Skylar Astin and Ben Platt are confirmed for Pitch Perfect 2.

Platt posted a photo of himself with Astin on Wednesday that proved to fans they have returned for the sequel. The picture was taken on set and reads, "What better way to spend my first day on set for #PitchPerfect2 than by doing a scene with my rookie @SkylarAstin."

Both actors portray college freshmen in the first movie, who join the a cappella club Barden Treblemakers. Astin stars as Jesse Swanson, love interest of lead character Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick). Platt plays Benji Applebaum, Jesse's roommate and eventual teammate.

The second film will feature the characters as graduating seniors. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), Brittany Snow (Chloe Beale) and Adam DeVine (Bumper Allen) have also returned for the sequel. Newcomers include Hailee Steinfeld and Katey Sagal.

Pitch Perfect 2 is scheduled for a May 15, 2015 release. The movie is directed by Elizabeth Banks, who produced and starred in the original film.
