CANNES, France, May 22 (UPI) -- Sophia Loren is still as glamorous as ever.

The 79-year-old star wowed crowds with her beauty and sophistication this week at Cannes. She is the guest of honor at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and delivered a masterclass in addition to attending events.

The actress wore a sparkling, champagne-colored gown to the Tuesday screening of Two Days, One Night. The dress was covered in metallic studs, and featured a net-like inset across the neckline.

She donned a scarlet top, pants and scarf Wednesday for the premiere of her new movie, The Human Voice. The 25-minute short film is based on the Jean Cocteau play of the same name, and is directed by her son, Edoadro Ponti.

"Beauty is not important," Loren said at her masterclass earlier that day. "You have to be interesting and different from others. They tried to change me but I wouldn't let them."
